For the longest time, I had planned to introduce Dr. Whoosh’s wife in this storyline. I was going to play with a considerable age gap between them, making her a young, buxom man-killer who routinely cuckolded her husband right under his nose. Part ‘Sneaky Sex,’ part Mister Magoo…
…hell, even as I write this, I can’t tell you that I’m not going to circle around back to that concept. I think it has considerable comedic potential for EiAD stories!
But in this arc, I wanted someone… different. As I’ve teased earlier, this character, Tempest, is going to have her eye on Iron Dragon, and that’s going to cause some friction between him and his two partners. But I wanted someone with a little different silhouette. As I sketched the early versions of Tempest, I realized that she worked better as an Evil Inc employee — and not Dr. Whoosh’s wife.
So, she became his personal assistant. Then, when I wrote the scene between her and Lightning Lady, I knew I had struck gold. She’s perky, spunky, and flirtatious. The dialogue went way beyond what I had planned out. And the scenes — like the tilts of her head, her quirky smiles, and her jumping up to sit on LL’s desk — were too fun to draw. Technically, I was supposed to introduce the new branch manager on this page, and, well… he’s gonna have to wait.
Tempest is not the typical Evil Inc hottie. I think you’re going to fall in love with her.
