Panel 1

Narration: “But wait… what happened to the Fairmount Branch after Dr. Whoosh’s announcement?”

Desi runs towards Giant Tess’ office. A sign reads “Super Human Resources.”

Ginat Tess (from inside the office): “I was afraid of this.”

Panel 2

Giant Tess listens to her fellow villains gathered in her office.

Miss Match: “Can he do that? — Fire the entire branch?!”

Giant Tess: “He can. But it will take a few days to process the paperwork.”

Count Spurlock: “Then we know what we must do.”

Panel 3

Tempest: “You can try… but his reflexes are still super fast… And his metabolism processes poisons too quickly for them to work.”

Panel 4

The villains are shocked by Tempest’s tacit admission that she has tried several times to kill her boss, Dr. Whoosh.

Giant Tess: “I meant… We need to come up with a plan to save the branch.”

Panel 5

Giant Tess continues: “But I like the way you think.”

Panel 6

The Evil Inc supervillains gather in Giant Tess’ office.

Giant Tess: “We must prove to Dr. Whoosh that this branch is too important to close.”

Lightning Lady: “Let’s pair off and see who can come up with the best scheme.”

Iron Dragon: “Yeah! We’ll meet here in an hour to determine the best one.”

Count Spurlock: “It’s exhilarating to see this branch come together to fight a common foe!”

Miss Match: “I’ll see if Muskiday has anything in his lab.”

Panel 7

The scene shifts to show Iron Dragon sidling up to Desdemonda, circling his arms around her waist. Desi eyes him suspiciously.

Iron Dragon: “You heard what Spurlock said: we need to come together. After that, we can work on a scheme to save the office.”

Panel 8

Desi, reaching for Catnip: “No thanks. I’m working with Catnip!”

Catnip (surprised): “Huh?!”

Panel 9

Iron Dragon stands between two women, looking nervous. Desi is glaring at him.

Desdemona: “Why don’t you team up with your new friend? After that, you can work on a scheme to save our relationship.”

Evil Inc full page, Sept. 9, 2024

Last week, the superheroes of Justice Ltd were sent on an interplanetary rescue mission.

This week, Cassie chooses her team to guard Fairmount City in their absence.

Transcript

Panel 1:

Cassie Cruz ays, “Listen up, you five are gonna be in charge of patrolling the city tonight while Justice Ltd is out of town.”

Panel 2:

A series of character introductions:

  • Crimson Ghost (a superhero): “Can turn invisible and/or intangible. Former partner of Commander Heroic. Squandered retirement savings on Thomas Kinkaid paintings.”

  • Malocchio (her hair covers her right eye): “Anyone who gazes into her evil eye will face bad luck. Also, her eye is really gross — all weepy and swollen. She had an eye doctor look at it once. An anvil dropped on his head.”

  • Night Mayor (a short man in a top hat): “Conjures and commands creatures from the dreams of civilians sleeping nearby. The bad ones. Sorry. The bad dreams. Not the bad people.”

  • Glue Trap (a blob-like figure): “Skin secretes an ultra-sticky substance. Also… kinda clingy in a relationship, but that has nothing to do with his powers. Has an eye for Malocchio. But she prefers the one she has.”

Cassie Cruz asks, “Think you can handle that?”

Panel 3:

Crimson Ghost exclaims, “US?! These are all D-list hoodlums!”

Malocchio retorts dismissively, “Pffft! This guy is so old he belongs on the endangered list!”

Panel 4:

Night Mayor looks puzzled and says, “Um… there’s only four of us.”

From off-panel a voice responds, “Never fear, mademoiselle…”

Panel 5:

Faux Fox (a fox-like figure) appears, holding a fake head: “Faux Fox is here!”
Narration: “Master of disguise. And a fox.”

Panel 6:

Cassie says, “Great. Now where’s Jeremy?”

Another voice from off-panel weakly squeaks, “H-help m-meeee…”

Panel 7:
Cassie (gesturing up to Jeremy, who is stuck to Glue Trap’s back): “Jeremy! Get down from there! I need you to coordinate from the office!”
Jeremy: “I can’t! I’m stuck!”

Panel 8:
Cassie (looking up at Jeremy): “How can we get you off?!”
Jeremy (hands raised in frustration, covered in goo): “Vegetable oil — and lots of it!”

Panel 9:
Cassie: “No, I mean… How can we get you unstuck?”
Jeremy: “That’s what I’m trying to tell you! Vegetable oil will break up the adhesive.”

Panel 10:
Glue Trap: “There’s only one problem: If you do that, it will take my body a few days to secrete a new layer of goo.”

Panel 11:
Cassie: “Ok… I’ll coordinate. You take everything in and call me with details.”
Cassie sticks a mobile phone next to Jeremy on Glue Trap’s back.

Panel 12:
Jeremy (flustered): “How am I supposed to take anything in from the rear?!”

Panel 13:
Cassie (calm): “Just relax… Take deep breaths. I know you can adjust to this new position…”
Glue Trap, over his shoulder: “Do you two even hear yourselves?!”
